Now we are now three weeks on from the closure of Llanfair Bridge on Saturday 5th of March and work has started on the repair.
Activity for the week can be summarised thus:
Wednesday 23rd March
- A team arrived and started work on preparing the site.
- A fence was erected around the damaged area in the field – presumably for safety reasons during the course of the works.
Thursday 24th March
- The fallen stone was removed in the field and a loose upper section of wall was taken down on the upstream side of the bridge.
During the week a notice was also posted noting the commencement of works on the 16th April, and that the duration of the works was likely to be 3 months. Given the fact that work has already begun, we can only assume this notice relates to the reconstruction of the bridge, rather than the preparatory work.
