For the moment at least it seems people are walking over the bridge – at your own risk of course!
The bridge at Llanfair Clydogau was closed today at 19:00 for safety reasons following a partial collapse of one of the arches.
Structural engineers are due to assess the damage early next week and any remedial work will then be planned.
There is currently no vehicular or pedestrian access across the bridge. For those of you who make the journey either across Lampeter or Gogoyan bridge to Llanfair Clydogau the shop and Post Office are open as usual.
If we receive any news regarding the planned works, or a proposed reopening date then I will update this web-site accordingly.
The date of Barbara’s funeral has now been confirmed as Wednesday 16th December. There will be a short service at Gwilym Price funeral directors in Lampeter, starting at 10:30am, followed by cremation at Aberystwyth Crematorium, which starts at 12:45pm. Following the cremation there will a funeral tea in Llanfair Clydogau Village Hall from 2:00pm.
There has been much speculation concerning the date of Barbara’s funeral, but no firm date has been set at the time of writing this post on Sunday November 29th. The executor of the will is still trying to find a convenient date to hold the cremation. I can confirm, however, that it will not take place on the 10th of December.
I will post here again as soon as I have confirmation of a firm date.
